The Cochrane Bone, Joint and Muscle Trauma Group is one of around 50 collaborative Review Groups within Cochrane, an international organisation that aims to help people make well-informed decisions about healthcare. Members of this Group – researchers, health care professionals from many disciplines and consumers - share an interest in generating reliable, up-to-date evidence by preparing, maintaining and promoting the accessibility of systematic reviews of the effect of healthcare interventions. These reviews are published in the Cochrane Library.
The Cochrane Bone, Joint and Muscle Trauma Group aims to produce systematic reviews of interventions, tested within randomised and quasi-randomised controlled trials, for the:
• primary and secondary prevention of fractures, dislocations, and soft tissue injuries of the appendicular skeleton and associated soft tissues, and the prevention of complications or adverse effects of treatment;
• management (treatment and rehabilitation) of patients with fractures, dislocations, and soft tissue injuries of the appendicular skeleton and associated soft tissues.
The Group is co-ordinated by an editorial base, which is located at the University of Manchester (UK).
